My first introduction to Outdoor Research was some great over-sized waterproof mittens more than 20 years ago and they were amazing. This company is a leader in outdoor specific clothing from head to toe. There are several options that OR has available for the active multi sport athlete, here are just a few.

VERSALINER

Retail $45.00

The VERSALINER  (pictured above) is a light-weight full finger glove with comfortable fleece that has flexibility and stretch. The really great part about this product is that it has a pocket where a breathable, waterproof liner can be pulled out quickly and thrown over the glove. It literally is a waterproof shell for your gloves. This is great as snow or rain sneak into any adventurous moment and is perfect for any outdoor activity. I tested them extensively during cold winter trail running. When the temperature drops it is great to have this extra layer. As a bonus, the pocket can be used for hand warmers.

OR Vigor JacketVIGOR

Retail $70.00

Now that you are thinking about a shell for your hands no you need to get the VIGOR. The VIGOR is the perfect activity shell.  As light-weight as the Versaliner, it is the perfect piece if the weather is looking sketchy on a long run or bike ride.  I used this in snow, rain and very cold temperatures. This is a great single layer that travels well and is great in a pocket or backpack.  Made of a very strong thin waterproof nylon, I found it useful for days when the temps start out low but increase later in the day. There are a couple reflective patches that help if you plan on running close to civilization. I did not know that a jacket that was so thin and light could be so durable and strong. It is a good versatile, go-to shell. This is a great back up to have in a transition bag for your next Triathlon. If you need it before after or during it is going to work very well and not be bulky. I started running the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim to Rim in this and was glad to have it with me in case the weather suddenly changed. Thankfully, the VIGOR packs down about the size of a clenched fist.

OR Tempo ShirtMEN’S TEMPO SHIRT (COWBOY SHIRT)

Retail $75.00

Until this year I did not know that OR had any casual clothing available. This was a pleasant surprise. The Men’s TEMPO SHIRT is a great long sleeve casual shirt with what I call cowboy snap buttons and the red plaid is timeless.  They did a great job of making a cozy shirt that will work well in any season because it is a drirelease® cotton and polyester blend. Great for camping, going out on the town, or just lounging around the house; it's a solid addition to your closet.

The overall feel I get from OR is that they have the products that you need but have a laser focus on the unique styling and functionality. This is truly an outdoor lifestyle company that is making innovative products with unique style and extreme durability. OR products all have an 'infinite guarantee'; his means they are guaranteed forever. There is not a single OR product that I have ever used that has not stood up to the test.
