DAKINE
This is a company that does many things well. With roots embedded in surfing and a Hawaiian style name they had a strong run in making surf leashes in the 80’s. Since then the company has grown and expanded to include a full line of Snow, Skate, and Surf products and accesories.
My experience with DAKINE started in 1996. My wife and I were newly weds and I was teaching snowboarding to pay the bills. She bought me a DAKINE outta bounds back pack that I still have today. I have used it for Snowboarding, backpacking and general travel. The bag is still around with no problems and no issues. DAKINE makes very high quality durable gear. I have seen them recently in the Mountain biking world with the tailgate covers for trucks.
DAKINE offers an amazing array of travel gear bags and unique carrying cases for every adventure. The Waterproof Duffle is a great bag that is sized right to keep stuff inside dry. I used the bag at a very rainy duathlon this season and I was very pleased that everything stayed dry. I also used the bag to carry my wetsuit after an event so that it did not get everything in my car wet. The bag has a fold over top that allows room for lots of gear or just a tighter fit when the bag is not full. The fold over is a great way to keep things dry when the bag is not sealed and sitting stationary on the ground. I really like the WATERPROOF DUFFLE for boat trips. I put my towels and other items that need to stay dry inside. Anytime you need to keep stuff dry this bag is on the list.
I was surprised to find out that DAKINE makes gloves for biking. I had seen the gloves for Snowboarding. These biking gloves are incredible.
The DAKINE BLOCKADE is an incredible full finger glove that is ideal for cycling and running. I used it in very cold temperatures running and it was very breathable and comfortable especially as things warmed up. The BLOCKADE is perfect for cold weather bike rides because it blocks out the wind without having too much bulk.
The DAKINE NOVIS is a half finger glove that is perfect for everyday riding. I really like the positioning of the gel pad on the palm of the hand. This glove has thin velcro straps that provide flexibility in wrist bend. The glove has the string between each finger that makes it very easy for quick removal. The fit is perfect and the durability is just what I expect from DAKINE.
I look forward to the next great thing the DAKINE brings to market. The unique styles and designs that go into every product make DAKINE very appealing to a broad base in so many different sports.
